Character history.
OOC: I'm putting this here because (as of 7 October 2008) I'm going on three years of playing Cho, and there's a lot of history to her character.

Cho, fourth year.Cho was born in London on the 10th of April, 1979, and grew up in a spacious house outside of Ottery St. Catchpole, along with other wizarding families such as the Weasleys, Lovegoods, and Diggorys.  Her parents never had any other children, but they, unlike most wealthy upper-middle class wizarding families, did not spoil her.  They raised her with very liberal, very progressive ideas and did their best to instill a kindness towards Muggles in her; they even went as far as to enroll her in a Muggle primary school, although under very careful supervision so that her magical abilities would go undetected.  Although Cho no longer keeps in contact with any of her old Muggle friends, she remembers them quite fondly.  Her first four years went by without many interesting things taking place in her personal life, although the attack on Muggleborns in her third year and the Sirius Black adventure in her fourth year certainly made for some charged dinner conversations.  She generally tried to stay out of those messes as best she could, and it wasn't too hard -- Ravenclaw was almost never involved in the Gryffindor-Slytherin conflicts.

In her fifth year, Harry asked her to the Yule Ball and she declined, although she felt bad about doing so because she genuinely thought he was a nice person.  She became very close with and dated Cedric Diggory, and was devastated when he was killed. Although she bore no hard feelings towards Harry, Cho changed a lot after Cedric's death. She grew snappy and cold to most people, and kept to herself, shunning the company of others. Towards the end of her sixth year, though, she finally started opening up again and slowly but surely befriended Angelina Johnson, Terry Boot, Ernie Macmillan, Harry Potter, Oliver Wood, Lisa Turpin, and a handful of other Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, and Hufflepuffs. Still, she often found herself at odds with most of the Slytherin student body, and has never hesitated to voice her opinions about them.
The summer before 7th year.
Her friendship with Angelina began as a female rivalry over Cedric Diggory. As per her irreverent nature, Cho found out that Cedric had begun dating Angie after he came back to life, and Cho was both very hurt by this and very angry about it. She confronted Cedric on the Quidditch pitch and blew up at him, causing him to break it off with Angie. For a long while, Angie and Cho didn't speak to each other, but eventually--and quickly, once it happened--they became best friends. She and Cedric patched up their friendship and the whole mess was rather quickly forgotten.

In her seventh year, Cho joined the reformed Order of the Phoenix and decided to become an Auror as soon as she could after leaving Hogwarts. When the school was attacked by Voldemort, Cho and the other girls (who were all in Ravenclaw due to a gender-segregated dorming situation brought on for student safety) developed a way to contact the guys over in Gryffindor. Cho attended every meeting of Defense Against the Dark Arts Club, or Defense Club, and trained hard, knowing that these things weren't just for show. Before the war broke out, Cho also formed and was President/Director of Pieria Drama Society, which put on Muggle plays for the school. Her first play that she directed was Annie. She had been planning to get a showing of Guys and Dolls together when things started getting darker, and she set it aside to focus on more important things. Cho lost many friends in the war, and that only fueled her passion for eradicating those good-for-nothing Death Eaters even more. She, having teamed up with Cedric, fought alongside the rest of the Order, and those who had taken up arms outside of the Order, and somehow managed to survive against all odds. Cho was present when the Dark Lord took power, and would have tried to kill him if Auror Kingsley had not stopped her. To this day she sometimes regrets not disobeying Kingsley, but has mostly let go of it since the wizarding community is no longer at a direct risk from Voldemort.

After the war, Cho took leave to China to try and rally financial support for Britain via her connections in the Chinese Ministry. These efforts took a long time to come into fruition due to her involvement in many political factions, each aimed at quelling the conflicts within the Chinese Ministry. After two long years, it became apparent that any aid the British Ministry would receive from China could not be attained by one person alone. She kept to herself again during these two years, feeling disconnected from the Chinese Ministry and everyone in it, not to mention the society as a whSnapshot taken some time in spring of 6th year.ole. It was the first time she had ever truly felt like an outsider in China, and she didn't like it.

Eventually, Cho decided to come back to Hogwarts and Hogsmeade, despite everything that had happened there in the past.  After a few roommate swaps, Cho began living with Harry Potter, who soon became like a brother to her, even though they now live separately.  She enrolled alongside Harry in Auror training in the fall of 1999, and is now in her second year of training.  In the summer of 2000, Cho attended Auror Boot Camp in Brazil with Tonks and spent a month training intensely in Sao Paolo.  Cho briefly dated Theodore Nott's clone up until the Ministry decided to re-try him and, possibly, throw him in Azkaban again.  They broke up shortly before he fled.  She has somehow earned the reputation for knowing everyone an
d everything going on around London, Diagon Alley, and Hogsmeade, although she's not sure how she received this title.  Most of Cho's time now is spent working with MLE cases and trying to help solve cases alongside Harry Potter. She has grown a little more serious after fighting in the war, but, true to her upbringing, Cho is still a very kind-hearted, optimistic young woman.
